One lazy Saturday morning

It was a lazy Saturday when I just woke up and was scouring in the kitchen hall. Ricardo asked me if I wanted to join for sculpture class. This is so classic Kot Carrefour. Whether you expect it or not, a variety form of cultural exchange is happening just around the corner. Even though laziness tempted me a bit not to join it, the all-ready scene prepared for sculpture made me just dive in exploring new experience. As I sat on the chairs, listening to the explanation from Nathalie about how to proceed sculpture reminded me of art class in schools. When the freedom was given to choose which subject that I want to express through the art piece, I was contemplating. Since I was doing it, I wanted to create something meaningful for myself because I am a believer of the statement that art is not just pretty but acts as a tool enabling people to express themselves. After all the contemplation, I chose to create a sculpture resembling my mother. My mother has been an important figure, influencing my life values and goals. When I told Nathalie that I wanted to create some sculpture resembling my mother, she told me it would be a different approach since my mother is Asian and has different facial features. That got me to think that cultural differences exist in our daily lives naturally. The way we hold our cups, how big you eat your breakfast and so on what we just take for granted could be different between people from different cultures. On the way to finish the work, it was just lovely along the tea break with croissant provided by Ricardo. We played some music on with the player, chatted and giggled. I just think that unexpected but awesome Saturday was only possible in Kot Carrefour. I know diversity could provide hard time for people to understand each other. However, I believe the efforts put to understand each other makes this world more beautiful.
